Welcome to Enviro Employ
Welcome to Enviro Employ. A blog dedicated to help environmental professionals find and develop their careers.
Here begins a project borne out of frustration.
A few weeks ago I had two job interviews with two different state environmental state agencies. However, when preparing, I found nothing online to help me with these interviews except for a few Glassdoor comments and your generic interview tips. So I figured, why don’t I create that place to help. Hopefully my experiences and connections can provide you with the knowledge and insight to help you with your environmental career.
What Enviro Employ is?
This blog is an attempt to help others find or develop their careers in the environmental field. My background is in environmental science and so far I have worked in two out of the three sectors in the environmental sciences; private and consulting. Fingers crossed I can land a job in the third sector; government agency.
The audience I am trying to reach are those that are or want to be an environmental professional. That is someone wanting to be an environmental scientist, environmental specialists, environmental engineers, geologist, biologist, ecologist, or similar. Again, my background is in environmental science and as a result I don’t have too much experience with natural resources oriented fields such as forestry. However, once this blog gains traction the plan is to reach out to those folks in those fields to help provide more specific help.
What is Enviro Employ isn’t?
Enviro employ is not a environment blog. Climate change and plastic bags in the ocean is not the focus of this blog. The focus of this blog is for those that work in environmental field and help with their careers. We will touch on current events and policies but that will only be in the context of how it effects the industry and careers. Besides, you will be surprised how un-environmental being an environmental professional can be.
So here is to the start of an exciting journey. Hopefully in the coming weeks and months and I can some of my experiences with you and help you on your journey in becoming an environmental professional.
